The Glendale Teachers Association (GTA) is 1200 members strong. GTA is a local chapter of the 325,000 member California Teacher’s Association, which is an affiliate of the 3.2 million member National Education Association. The Holiday season brings merriment, joy, and warmth to my heart.
I am especially merry this year as the much feared mid-year cut was
far below the dire projections I have heard made at GUSD Board
meetings. The worst case scenario of $54 per student is more than
manageable compared to the $7.6 million of on-going monies we got
in October of 2010 and compared to the over $100 million the District
has in reserves. So, I thank Governor Brown for this holiday gift and I
continue to rejoice my good fortune of being the representative for the
best teachers in the State of California – You!
